Wellness Exams

Did you know that 1 year in the life of a dog or cat is equivalent to five to seven human years! That is why it is so important that your pet receives a wellness exam at least every year, and more often when he or she enters senior years-usually around 7 yr old. Many changes can occur with your pet’s health in a short amount of time, so make sure your pet does not miss even one Wellness Exam!
Regular wellness exams allows the veterinary team at Bay View Veterinary to evaluate your pet’s general health and become aware of any health problems before they can become serious illnesses. Since our pets cannot talk to us, or share what he or she is feeling, you must rely on regular physical examinations by your veterinarian. Your at home observations can also be very important and should be shared with our veterinary team.

Simple observations such as-

Coughing

Diarrhea

Eating more than usual

Excessive drinking of water, panting, scratching or urination

Vomiting-occasional or regular

Weight gain or weight loss

can all be extremely helpful. Our Doctors will also want to know about your pet’s exercise routine. The Bay View Veterinary team will ask-

Does your pet have trouble getting up in the morning?

Does your pet show signs of weakness or unbalance?

Does your pet show an unwillingness to exercise?

We also will ask about your pet’s exposure to fleas, ticks, heartworms and intestinal parasites.

Together, we will develop an individualized treatment and/or preventative plan to address these issues and keep your pet happy and healthy.
